After holding the center stage and bringing the UPA government to its knees by launching the Janlokpal movement, Anna Hazare has faded out. Anna’s movement created ripples in the political circles and the politicians ganged up together to scuttle the LokPal bill in parliament. The country was promised an effective legislation against corruption but, nothing concrete has happened so far.

Why did Anna Hazare fade out? How Arvind Kejriwal is in the limelight?

But, Arvind Kejariwal who was considered very close to Anna, did not miss the opportunity. Politicians did not take Arvind Kejriwal seriously when he floated the Aam Aadmi Party. Not even Anna Hazare and his depleted team would support the move by Arvind Kejariwal to enter into politics directly. The Congressmen and the UPA ministers ridiculed him. Netas like Lalu Prasad Yadav were contemptuous. All this did not deter Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters from young India. They kept up the pressure on the political class by their exposes. They did not spare even the Gandhi family by targeting Robert Vadra. Their campaigns against corruption was publicised by the print and the Television media and was read and watched by millions.

And today Arvind Kejariwal is making headlines. He has emerged as a serious contender for the Chief Minister of Delhi.

Big blunder committed by Anna Hazare was his mistrust for all the politicians. Bigger blunder was to disassociate himself from Arvind. Dr Subramaniam Swamy points out that “Team Anna should give up its aversion to politicians. In a democracy, you cannot do without politicians and political parties.”

Dr Subramaniam Swamy further says that crusaders against corruption and citizens must not lose hope and should work together. “Anna Hazare has to trust politicians and enter the political scene, because that is the way of democracy. And all of us must fight together to rid the country of this (corruption) malaise; and make formidable examples of those who have been caught to prevent future scams.”
